Dove Cameron Reminds Fans of the Beautiful Reason She Changed Her Name

Longtime Dove Cameron fans know that her birth name isn’t Dove, but rather Chloe.

The 21-year-old actress has spoken out about the reasons for changing her name in the past, and she just opened up again to an inquiring young fan on social media.

“How did you come up w the name dove?” a Twitter user asked, “no hate at all. i think dove and chloe are both beautiful names i’m just curious.”

“My father always called me dove,” she wrote. “He took his own life when i was 15, i didn’t get to say goodbye, so i changed it in honor of him.”

“It’s like every time someone calls you Dove your dad is talking to you,” one fan wrote.

“Exactly,” Dove agreed.
