Sarah Hyland Slams Fans Who Thought She Was Mocking a Stranger's Weight Online

Sarah Hyland posted an Instagram video this week that upset a lot of people.

“How, how, do you get in your car miss?” she laughed in the video, referring to the lack of door handle to get in the car.

Unfortunately, viewers assumed she was mocking the stranger’s weight, and slammed the Modern Family actress in the comments. Now, Sarah has decided to speak out.

“OK I’d like to say one thing,” she said on Instagram Stories. “For those thinking that I was making fun of the woman in the car, uh no. If you noticed, the car didn’t have a car handle. That’s why I was questioning how she got in the car or not. It didn’t have a handle!”

Sarah also tweeted a screenshot of her exchange with the actual woman in the car — who laughingly agrees having no car handle is annoying.

She also wrote: “For those who thought I was making fun of a woman’s weight? I’m extremely disappointed in you. That thought never even crossed my mind… but it did in yours. So please stop projecting your mal thoughts and putting them on me.”

The 26-year-old entertainer has opened up about her own weight struggles in the past, so it’s no surprise she’s upset fans think she is mocking someone’s weight.
