Lili Reinhart Says Betty Turns Into a 'Badass' When This Happens on 'Riverdale'

Ahead of the season premiere, Lili Reinhart teased that we would be seeing a new kind of Dark Betty arrive on the show — and she showed up last night.

Speaking with EW after the episode, the actress opened up about how her threats to Cheryl, defending her friends are a part of that new Dark Betty persona.

“I feel like when it comes to defending Jughead or defending people she really cares about, she kind of turns into a little bit of a badass because she has to be sometimes,” Lili shared. “[Betty] would have done the same for Veronica, or Kevin, or Archie.”

She adds, “I think people really respond and love seeing that little side of her that’s not the typical Betty.

“It’s darker and a little more – I wouldn’t say ‘stone cold bitch’ [which Cheryl called her on the show last night] – but a little more assertive, you know?”
