Eva Gutowski Claps Back at Song Making Fun of Anxiety
Eva Gutowski is one of the many of people who struggle with anxiety and upon hearing a song that made fun of the mental disorder, she just wasn’t having it.
“The fact that there’s a pop song out there that takes the word ‘anxiety’ – a mental disorder that I any [sic] many people take medication for- and belittles it into a mainstream feeling you get when you have relationship problems. We can’t be doing this. This is important,” the popular digital influencer wrote on Twitter.
Eva continued, “Don’t take a mental disorder that ruins people’s lives on the daily and turn it into a pop song i am not here for that. Sick of when someone says ‘I struggle with anxiety disorder’ and their friends go ‘omg me TOO i get SOO nervous all the time lyke I’m so stressed omggg!’”
That reaction she posted as an example isn’t what anxiety is. It’s much more.
“Put yourself in my shoes,” she adds. “I’m in my house right now after fighting a panic attack all day, and then I hear on my radio ‘ANXIETY ANX ANXIETY YOU GIVE ME ANXIETY I CANT EAT OR SLEEP ANXIETYYYYY’.”
“Not really the right type of lyrics to raise awareness. Instead it’s just triggering.”
