The CW's 'Black Lightning' Isn't In The Arrowverse -- Here's Why
China Anne McClain leans on on-screen dad Cress Williams during their panel at the 2018 Winter TCA Press Tour held at The Langham Huntington Hotel on Sunday (January 7) in Pasadena, Calif.
The two Black Lightning stars were joined by co-stars Christine Adams, Nafessa Williams, James Remar, Damon Gupton, and Marvin Jones III, as well as showrunners Salim Akil and Mara Brock Akil.
Speaking with The Wrap about the series, Salim shared that the new DC show wouldn’t be part of the Arrowverse at all.
“I say this with all due respect, but they’re not really relevant to the show that we’re doing,” he says. “The great thing that Warner Bros. and CW allowed us to do was create our own world. We really wanted folk to get to know this family before we started branching out.”
So, if China wants that crossover with The Flash…it’s going to be a little hard to do right now.
Nafessa is also pictured below at the InStyle and Warner Bros. Golden Globes Party later that night with Jessica Parker Kennedy.
