Camila Cabello Dishes on Breakout Bop 'She Loves Control'

Camila Cabello‘s “She Loves Control” is a fan favorite — and it’s easy to hear why.

The 20-year-old songstress has opened up about penning the popular song, which she wrote with Skrillex, Frank Dukes, Louis Bell, Ilsey Juber and Mustafa Ahmad.

“[It] could mean a lot of different things,” she teased during her Live event just ahead of the weekend on YouTube. “For me, it was about creative control and just having control over my life. I definitely do love control over the decisions in my career and creative control. Also just feeling good about deciding what you want and getting what you want.”

Camila adds that the song came about just because she liked the title.

“I love that title and wanted to write a song that had that title and had that concept,” she shares. “So we wrote this song to this track and the track was super cool but it was super weird, it almost sounded like it was out of Aladdin.”

And then, it all changed.

“We were like ‘this isn’t working’ so then Frank and I took the acoustic guitar [and] he changed around the chords and I sung the chorus,” Camila continues. “It sounded like this almost rock song…it sounded like a rock n’ roll song. Skrillex ended up coming to the studio 40 minutes later, so we played him the acoustic guitar thing.”

“He basically spent 15 minutes on his laptop and he completely changed the track…to make this reggaeton kind of beat. So then (we) wrote the rest of it that night, super quickly. That was a really fun night.”
