Rowan Blanchard Opens Up About How She Constantly Struggles With Self Confidence

Rowan Blanchard heads out of a studio after filming an interview appearance in New York City on Thursday afternoon (February 8).

The Wrinkle in Time star is on the cover of the March/April issue of Seventeen and in her feature, opened up about how she struggles with self confidence all the time.

“We think being a feminist and a strong, empowered woman or teenager means loving yourself every single day. And to me, that’s so unrealistic – I could never, ever identify with that,” Rowan shares. “I still struggle with self-confidence.”

She continues, “I feel alienated when people say things like, ‘You have to love yourself despite your flaws!’ Love your pimples, love everything!’ I’m like, Sorry, but that’s fake – you’re telling people to cover up their feelings so they can pretend that they’re empowered or happy.”

For her, honesty is always the best way to go.

Rowan adds, “Being honest and saying, ‘I don’t feel great today’ or ‘I don’t feel confident today’ or ‘I don’t like how I look today’ and then resting with whatever that truth is has always worked so much more for me than forcing myself to say, ‘I love everything about everything!’”
