Nia Sioux On 'Dance Moms': 'I’ve Realized So Many Things From Being the Only Black Girl'

Nia Sioux is opening up about her time on Dance Moms and the fact that she was the only black girl on the show.

In a new interview, the dancer revealed how she felt like an inspiration to young girls and obstacles she faced.

“Since being the only black girl on the show, I’ve realized so many things from it,” she told Nylon. “I remember when I was little, I would get frustrated because I couldn’t put my hair up the way all the other girls could, or I would have to get different colored tights because they would have to match my skin tone.”

“It’s really important to show girls, especially black girls, that you can be whatever you want to be,” she continued. “You don’t have to look exactly like the other girls.”
