Little Mix Wrote A Song About The Me Too Movement
Little Mix coordinate their outfits with fall-like colors while heading to a radio interview in London, England on Friday morning (October 12).
Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirwall were all smiles despite waking up super early for promo duties for new single, “Woman Like Me”.
Speaking with Noisey in a new interview, Little Mix revealed that on their upcoming fifth album, there’s also a song that touches on the #MeToo movement.
“We wrote this song [called 'Woman's World'] when the whole #MeToo movement was coming about,” the band shared. “You know … I was so angry about what was going on. It was important to write it with Jez, [a songwriter] who’s a man. It holds an important message.”
“We haven’t written anything that’s too controversial before, and now we’re starting to write things that are slightly more honest. We want to be a bit more ballsy and say ‘yeah, it is hard to be a woman’.”
Jade added, “We were scared to say the wrong thing, basically. We didn’t want to talk about something if we felt we weren’t truly educated in it. But there’s a change that comes with age, and also learning more about what’s going on in the world.”
“I think we’re all doing that more in general, about the things we’re passionate about – whether it’s women’s rights, LGBTQ issues or Black Lives Matter. All those things that once we would have been scared to touch on. But it’s okay to be passionate about something, and speak up against something if you don’t agree with it.”
