Katherine McNamara is Convinced That 'Arrow's Maya Is A Better Fighter Than 'Shadowhunters' Clary

Katherine McNamara made her debut as Maya, a street fighter, on Arrow this week – a character she says has a lot more skill than Shadowhunters‘ Clary.

Speaking to IBT, the 23-year-old actress compared her characters in their fight game and shared that Maya would reign supreme.

“Maya’s a much better fighter, I think, than Clary. I think Clary’s great, but she’s still learning so much. And, yes, she had her own authority, but they’re very different,” she shared.

Kat adds, “Maya has the experience of growing up — she has the experience of having the environment around her and not being thrust into it but being a product of that environment. So, it’s in her bones, and it’s in every fiber of her being for her entire life.”

“Whereas Clary, it’s in her blood and a part of who she is, but she had to learn so much of it. So, that’s sort of where these characters differ, as well. I think if Clary had grown up a Shadowhunter, maybe she’d be a lot more like Maya.”
