Marcel Ruiz Reveals He Auditioned For His 'Breakthrough' Role Seven Times!
Marcel Ruiz stops by Build Series to chat about his new movie, Breakthrough, in New York City on Tuesday afternoon (April 16).
The 15-year-old One Day at a Time actor opened up about his long audition process and also explained that he actually didn’t know what the movie was really about, either.
“So many things happen to create this miracle, so I didn’t understand it,” he shared. “I didn’t know it was based on a true story and I didn’t feel the character the first time.”
Marcel continued that they actually flew him to Winnipeg, Canada for one of the last auditions before getting to read with Chrissy Metz, who plays his mom in the film.
“That was the best one. We just connected since we met, and I feel that’s why our relationship in the movie is so real.”
