Sophie Turner Opens Up About Being Pressured to Lose Weight on 'Game of Thrones'

Sophie Turner is speaking out about her mental health.

The 23-year-old actress got candid about her decision to enter therapy during a new interview with Marie Claire Australia.

“I have experienced mental illness firsthand and I’ve seen what it came do to the people around [the sufferers] as well,” Sophie said. “My metabolism suddenly decided to fall to the depths of the ocean and I started to get spotty and gain weight and all of this was happening to me on camera.”

Sophie was also brutally honest about the treatment she received on the set of her HBO hit, Game of Thrones during this time, when she says she faced pressure from studio executives to lose weight.

“Everyone needs a therapist, especially when people are constantly telling you you’re not good enough and you don’t look good enough,” Sophie said. “I think it’s necessary to have someone to talk to and to help you through that.”

This week, news broke that Sophie and long-time love Joe Jonas tied the knot in a surprise Las Vegas wedding after the Billboard Music Awards (Diplo shared the whole ceremony on his Instagram).
