Yara Shahidi Opens Up About Eighteenx18's Mission at Town & Country Philanthropy Summit 2019

Yara Shahidi steps out in a stylish outfit for the 2019 Town & Country Philanthropy Summit held at Hearst Tower on Wednesday afternoon (May 8) in New York City.
The invite-only Town & Country Sixth Annual Philanthropy Summit focused on hot-topic issues such as criminal justice reform, climate change, the opioid crisis, and philanthropy as a family value.
The 2019 Summit was held in tandem with the release of T&C’s annual Philanthropy Issue, which Yara is one of the cover stars.
Speaking at the event, Yara opened up about her mission with her voting organization, Eighteen x 18.
“I want to help my peers because what I realized what was that I have the lovely space and time to learn from mentors about voting and to watch Democracy Now and CNN and BBC every day and politics still doesn’t make sense,” she shared. “For someone like me, when I have the time and space to decipher all of this and so many of my peers don’t have that space to make sense of what we’re voting on, it was important to increase access through 18×18 for my peers to gain that knowledge.”
FYI: Yara wore a a Giambattista Valli Fall 2019 jacket, pants and top.
