Here's Why Katy Perry Agreed to Be in Taylor Swift's 'You Need to Calm Down' Video

Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have put their bad blood behind them.

The 34-year-old “Never Really Over” singer appeared in Taylor’s “You Need to Calm Down” video, in which the pop stars hugged and buried the hatchet.

So what was behind the singers’ decision to reconcile? According to a source close to Katy, the pair bonded over their shared activism and beliefs.

“Katy agreed to do the music video because both she and Taylor are on the same page in regard to LGBTQ rights,” a source told ET. “They have both been big activists and feel very passionately about the cause. The video features RuPaul‘s Drag Race queens and many LGBTQ icons. That is why Katy agreed to do the video and put their issues behind them because she felt it was for a good cause that she cares about.”
