Shawn Mendes Gets a Butterfly Tattoo with an Amazing Backstory!

Shawn Mendes has some new ink!

The 20-year-old singer got an amazing new butterfly tattoo, courtesy of Toronto-based tattoo artist Livia Tsang, who showed off the body art in an Instagram post on Sunday (July 21).

“For the best @shawnmendes. Based on an edit from a fan, original art by @macdreaper 💛,” Livia captioned the post, giving credit to both the original artist behind the butterfly and the fan who brought the image to Shawn’s attention.

Shawn’s butterfly tat has an amazing backstory too.

According to Us Weekly, the inspiration for the ink came from one of Shawn’s fans, Kayla (aka @nasaruins), who posted two black-and-white photo of Shawn sporting an intricately designed butterfly tattoo on his left arm on Twitter on Wednesday (July 17).

Kayla captioned the edited photos, “Shawn mendes with a butterfly tattoo. I rest my case.”

Shawn saw the edited photos and reached out to Kayla asking her to DM him the specific butterfly art she used to for her edits.
