'The Vampire Diaries' Cast & Crew Celebrate 10 Years, Reveal Moment They Knew It Was Special
Can you believe it’s been 10 years since The Vampire Diaries premiered?!
The hit CW show ran for seven and a half years, eight seasons, and 171 episodes, from September 9, 2009 until March 10, 2017.
To celebrate the milestone anniversary, the cast and crew, including Nina Dobrev and creator Julie Plec dished on the show, and the moment in the pilot when they knew they had something special.
The moment happened when Elena met Stefan for the first time in the pilot.
“It was such an important scene for our characters, and Paul and I jumped [in] headfirst,” Nina told TV Guide.
“When we were shooting [the scene], it was so potent and so magical that we all did look at ourselves and each other and say, ‘If this works for everyone else like it’s working for us, I think we’re going to be good,’” Julie added.

On 9/10/09, The Vampire Diaries aired its 1st episode. 10 years, 3 series and 279 (and counting) episodes later, I'm as in love with the Salvatores, the Mikaelsons and Mystic Falls as ever. #TVD #TheOriginals and #Legacies fans, thank you for your eternal devotion.
