Katherine McNamara Talks Social Distancing In JJJ Guest Blog (Exclusive)

Katherine McNamara is opening up about social distancing in a new guest blog with Just Jared Jr!

The 24-year-old actress shared her thoughts on what’s going on in the world right now, some good things to come out of the pandemic, and dished some advice on getting through this time.

“Hello world! First of all, I want to take a moment to say I hope you and your loved ones are safe, happy, and healthy during this time. It’s not easy for anyone and I wish you all the best,” Katherine wrote. “Secondly, I want to give my greatest thanks and heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare workers, first responders, essential persons, and others on the front lines who are keeping things running while working to heal the world. You are super heroes in real life and we are forever in your debt. I hope you feel the love, support, and gratitude sent your way by so many every day – at a safe social distance of course…”

“One beautiful thing to come out of this period of social distancing is the creativity and the art that is being spread throughout the world,” she said. “Every effort to bring a smile to someone’s face, a bit of comfort to those who are uncertain, or support to those who are fighting tirelessly every day to heal the world, has a profound depth and beauty because it is serving to unite us as a human community for the greater good of the world.”

Hello world! Fist of all, I want to take a moment to say I hope you and your loved ones are safe, happy, and healthy during this time. Its not easy for anyone and I wish you all the best. Secondly, I want to give my greatest thanks and heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare workers, first responders, essential persons, and others on the front lines who are keeping things running while working to heal the world. You are super heroes in real life and we are forever in your debt. I hope you feel the love, support, and gratitude sent your way by so many every day – at a safe social distance of course…

What a crazy year this has turned out to be. I remember talking to a friend of mine in December of last year how society and culture tend to run in hundred year cycles and 2020 should be a big year or at least the start of the next phase of humanity in some shape or form. We both love the era of the “Roaring 20’s” so it felt exciting at the time to think of the art, culture, and progression to society that was possibly on the horizon. Well… needless to say… a global pandemic is not quite what we were thinking… This period has been quite challenging for so many, but I am determined to find the silver lining.

One beautiful thing to come out of this period of social distancing is the creativity and the art that is being spread throughout the world. Every effort to bring a smile to someone’s face, a bit of comfort to those who are uncertain, or support to those who are fighting tirelessly every day to heal the world, has a profound depth and beauty because it is serving to unite us as a human community for the greater good of the world. From the dolphins returning to the Venice canals and the clear skies worldwide due to decreases in emissions, to sidewalk chalk wishing passers- by well, to Josh Gad’s twitter feed, to the Sondheim birthday concert, to Save with Stories from Amy Adams and Jennifer Garner, to Christian Siriano sewing masks, to Honorary Colonel Tom Moore raising support for the NHS on his daily walk, to John Krasinski’s Some Good News, to the TikTok’s from healthcare workers as they keep up their spirits, and so much more. We are choosing to connect and create as a community in this time – that is our beacon of hope.

We all go trough phases of difficulty in life – it’s part of being human. I’ve been through enough ups and downs that I’ve seen it all comes down to a choice of how to react to those obstacles. Life will always throw things in your path – good, bad, ugly, wondrous, and everything in between. We can choose every day to either take these in stride and grow through them, or to let them define and defeat us. I choose the former and I invite you to do so with me. Most of the time, we go through these challenges on part of a personal journey, but this time, we have the beautiful advantage that we are all in this together (cue High School Musical dance break).

We are all going through the same experience of this new temporary normal and all of its oddities and challenges. In order to get through it we must see it as an opportunity to take a breath, look at our lives, and make changes in order to become the people we want to see in the world. We also can take time to breathe and reconnect with ourselves as well as with those we love by taking this time we have to reach out and catch up. We can hold each other up – even virtually – to ride this out together and come out the other side of this stronger and more unified for it.
