Dove Cameron & Thomas Doherty Share Their Experience At a Disrupted Peaceful Protest In LA

Dove Cameron and Thomas Doherty were among a group of peaceful protesters on Monday (June 1) in Los Angeles.
The group that the couple was in was cornered into a secluded parking lot where police starting firing rubber bullets and tear gas.
“just got home after a peaceful protest. so much passion & love, people passed out water/snacks, smiling and chanting. the police cornered us in a walled up parking lot, blocked off ALL the streets w tear gas so we couldn’t get out. the crowd had to knock down a fence to escape,” Dove shared in a post on Twitter.
“Was at a peaceful protest in Los Angeles today. Police cornered the peaceful crowd, started firing rubber bullets and tear gas. The saddest moment was when I saw white people stay calm, and watched Black people in absolute panic climb through barbed wire in desperation. Clarity,” Thomas wrote on his account.
Dove shared more posts about the protest area they were in, and how the situation was handled.
the right to protest peacefully is a human right recognized by our legal system. it’s in our first amendment. do we only care about certain amendments now ??? trapping, rubber bullets and tear gas for PEACEFUL PROTEST? #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd #BLACKLIVESMATTER #PROTECTBLACKLIVES

they didn’t!!! people were walking calmly home on the sidewalk w loving signs n good vibes!!! they blocked off both ends of the street &drove us into a parking lot that had a barbed wire fence at the end! there was nowhere to go & no reason for it. half of us were holding flowers https://t.co/Em5TsfE8fN

no we’re fine. a lot of people had to abandon their cars in the lot that were driving along with us, and a lot got arrested. no one that was near us got hit with the gas. mostly just traumatized by the escalation. so ridiculous and uncalled for. #BlackLivesMatter https://t.co/JvHLMS7fKc

everyone scattered & ran cause they trapped us. not sure what happened to everyone, cause there were still a good amount of us at that point. we ran to the gate to get away from the gas, though. they might be ok. i hope everyone is ok. my heart is heavy. no one did anything wrong https://t.co/PJnk9KU0jj
