Emma Watson Speaks Out In Support of Trans Women In Response To JK Rowling's Tweets

Emma Watson is addressing JK Rowling‘s transphobic tweets.

The 30-year-old actress and activist shared her own tweets in support of trans women.

“Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren’t who they say they are,” Emma wrote. “I want my trans followers to know that I and so many other people around the world see you, respect you and love you for who you are.”

Emma also shared organizations she is donating to in response.

“I donate to @Mermaids_Gender and @mamacash. If you can, perhaps you’ll feel inclined to do the same. ❤️,” she tweeted, adding, “Happy #PRIDE2020 Sending love x”

The organizations she donated to are Mermaids, a UK charity which supports gender diverse & transgender children and teenagers, and Mama Cash, the oldest international feminist fund. We support the pioneering & innovative activism of girls, women, trans & intersex people around the world.

Emma also retweeted an article with a list of organizations who support black trans people. Check it out here!
