Becky G Makes History at American Music Awards 2020!
Becky G picks up an award at the 2020 American Music Awards, which aired from the Microsoft Theater on Sunday (November 22) in Los Angeles.
The 23-year-old singer picked up the trophy for Favorite Female Artist – Latin!
Becky‘s win marks history as this year, the AMAs expanded the Latin categories, and this is the first time the Favorite Female Artist – Latin category has been included. She is the first ever winner of the award, which was presented by Bad Bunny.
“It all started when my grandpa crossed over, and one day I’m going to be a crossover, and it’s crazy because today, I still carry that same sentiment,” Becky said in her speech.
“Except, I don’t have to do the cross over because we are the cross over,” she continued. “When it comes to me and the decisions I make in my career, I proudly wave both flags – Mexican and American – and children and grandchildren of immigrants…we have seen what sacrifice and hard work looks like.”
“I dedicate this award to all the immigrant workers in this pandemic, the students, and immigrant families,” Becky added.
She also presented the award for Favorite Song – Soul/R&B, which went to The Weeknd for “Heartless.”
While backstage after her win, Becky also ran into black-ish‘s Anthony Anderson. See a photo of them together in the gallery!
FYI: Becky G is wearing a Ralph & Russo dress and Stuart Weitzman shoes.
