Shawn Mendes goes solo for his second performance at the 2020 American Music Awards, which aired from the Microsoft Theater on Sunday night (November 22) in Los Angeles.
The 22-year-old performed his smash new song “Wonder” just hours before his new Netflix documentary In Wonder is released.
“Thank you @AMAs & thank you Justin for being so kind and wonderful #ohcanada,” he wrote on Twitter after both of his performances.
Earlier in the night, Shawn joined Justin Bieber for a performance of their new duet “Monster.”
Shawn recently opened up about his approach to making his upcoming album Wonder, which is out on December 4th.
“I always felt like I had to walk into a studio and command the room and be like, ‘This is what we’re going to do,'” he told Apple Music. “And I just walked into the studio and I looked at the writers and the people who I love and trust, and I just hung out and just sat there and tried my best to let it come. And it did. And I feel really lucky for that because I think the point of the creative genius thing is that sometimes it doesn’t come, but don’t get down on yourself when it doesn’t.”
