Grace VanderWaal Changes Up Her Sound For First Release On New Label

Grace VanderWaal is advancing her music career!

The 17-year-old singer is debuting a new sound with her just released new song “Don’t Assume What You Don’t Know,” along with the music video.

“It’s about someone facing the truth about Hollywood, going through that process and realizing that they’re in too deep,” she said about the song, via People. “It feels really good to express yourself so freely. It’s empowering and very healing.”

“People put fame and beauty on such a pedestal, as if that’s the answer to life and all of that,” Grace also told Nylon of the track. “I want people to take away [from the song] that your life is awesome, and my life is awesome and everyone just makes the best of what they have and [they] can find their happy s— in their own s—.”

Grace was previously signed to Simon Cowell‘s SYCO record label following her win on America’s Got Talent. She’s now signed to Columbia Records!

Grace will head back into character this May to film the upcoming sequel to Stargirl, which was just announced last week. She will then release her new music project this summer.
