Ava DuVernay's CW Pilot 'Naomi' Casts Kaci Walfall In Lead Role

The CW’s new DC pilot Naomi has cast it’s lead role!

The potential new series comes from Ava DuVernay and follows a teen girl’s journey from her small northwestern town to the heights of the multiverse.

When a supernatural event shakes her hometown to the core, Naomi sets out to uncover its origins, and what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes.

According to Deadline, the lead role of Naomi has been cast with actress Kaci Walfall. She has most recently been seen in an episode of Power, as well as roles on Army Wives and Person of Interest. She also made her Broadway debut at nine years old as Young Nala in The Lion King, and originated the role of Lavender in the first national tour of Matilda.

Naomi is described as “an effortlessly cool and confident high school student who is the adopted daughter of doting parents. Popular with all the kids in her military town, Naomi is unafraid to embrace her AP-student, comic book–loving nerdiness. After a supernatural event leads to the discovery of her powers within, Naomi pursues her hidden destiny.”

Also cast in the new show as series regulars include Alexander Wraith as Dee, the owner of a local tattoo parlor; Cranston Johnson as Zumbado, the mysterious owner of a local used car lot.; and newcomer Camila Moreno as Lourdes, a young woman with a sarcastic sense of humor who works in a vintage collectibles shop.

If you somehow missed it, another CW pilot has set it’s star filled main cast!
