Met Gala 2021 - Who Are The Celebrity Co-Chairs & What Is the Theme?

The 2021 Met Gala is TONIGHT (September 13) and we have some key details!

Tonight’s event is a long time coming after the pandemic caused the 2020 event to be canceled, and this year’s event to be moved from May to now.

With the ongoing pandemic, the Met Gala is said to be a smaller, more intimate event than it’s normal, over-the-top, large-scale evening. Here’s what restrictions are in place!

This year’s theme is “American Independence” and is inspired by the Costume Institute’s upcoming exhibition, Part One—In America: A Lexicon of Fashion. The theme is meant to “celebrate The Costume Institute’s 75th anniversary and explore a modern vocabulary of American fashion,” according to Vogue and exhibit organizers.

The red carpet is set to begin at 5:30pm ET and you can watch a live stream on the Vogue Twitter page, hosted by Keke Palmer!
