Azie Tesfai Becomes Guardian On 'Supergirl' Tonight, Makes Arrowverse History!

Azie Tesfai is going down in Arrowverse history for tonight’s episode of Supergirl!
The 28-year-old actress’ character Kelly Olsen is taking on the Guardian mantle in the episode, but it’s her behind-the-scenes work that is one for the books…
Get the details inside…
Tonight’s all new episode of Supergirl, “Blind Spots,” is actually co-written by Azie herself, along with J. Holtham. This marks the first time ever that not only has an Arrowverse actor has written an episode of one of the shows, but also on any Greg Berlanti production, ever. She’s also the first Eritrean/Ethiopian actress to ever play a superhero.
The episode is also directed by Arrow‘s David Ramsey, who reprises his role as John Diggle as well.
In the ep, Kelly (Tesfai) is horrified when the Ormfell building implodes, injuring many in the community, including Joey (Aiden Stoxx). However, her horror quickly turns to frustration when she realizes that the hospital is overwhelmed, people are getting sicker, and no one is coming to help — including Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) who is busy fighting Nyxly (Peta Sergeant).
Knowing that she can make a difference, Kelly embraces her power and fully steps into her role as Guardian. Joined by Supergirl, Alex (Chyler Leigh), Diggle (Ramsey) and team, Guardian leads the way to restoring justice to the fallen community.
Jesse Rath, Nicole Maines and David Harewood also star in the episode.
Azie also got to write in some personal touches to the episode, including her character exiting an Ethiopian restaurant with her mother’s name in the opening scene, and she was involved in creating her Guardian costume.
Congratulations Azie on this incredible moment!!!
Tune in to Supergirl TONIGHT (September 21) at 9pm ET/PT on The CW!
