Ivory Aquino Cast In 'Batgirl' Movie, To Play First Openly Transgender Character In a Live Action DC Movie

Ivory Aquino is making history for DC!
The Trans actress has been cast in the upcoming Batgirl movie in the role of Alysia Yeoh, Deadline reveals.
Ivory‘s character is Barbara Gordon’s (Leslie Grace) best friend and a bartender.

She is also the first openly transgender character in a live action adaptation of a DC Comic!
The actress joins previously announced JK Simmons, Jacob Scipio, Brendan Fraser and Michael Keaton in the upcoming movie, which centers on Barbara, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon, who takes on the Batgirl mantle.
Ivory has actually already been seen on set. You can see her in photos that we posted last week of Leslie and Jacob on set!
Ivory previously portrayed transgender activist Cecilia Chung on ABC’s mini-series When We Rise. She has also been seen in episodes of Blue Bloods, FBI: Most Wanted, New Amsterdam and Tales of the City, among others.
