'Frozen,' 'Hamilton' & 'Dear Evan Hansen' Creatives Team Up For New Hulu Musical Series

What happens when creatives from Frozen, Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen get together? A new musical series gets set for Hulu!!

Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the married couple behind the music in Frozen and Coco, are teaming up with the director of Hamilton, Thomas Kail, and the script writer for Dear Evan Hansen, Steven Levenson, for the new show Up Here.

According to Deadline, Up Here is “a musical romantic comedy set in New York City in the waning days of 1999, following the extraordinary story of one ordinary couple as they fall in love and discover that the single greatest obstacle to finding happiness together might just be themselves – and the treacherous world of memories, obsessions, fears, and fantasies that lives inside their heads.”

Thomas, who directed In The Heights and Hamilton on Broadway, will serve as director of the series.

Steven, Robert, Kristen and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel will all serve as writers on the new series, with Robert and Kristen writing original songs for the show.

Up Here is currently casting, with production set for this summer in New York.

Thomas and Steven have previously teamed up on the FX series Fosse/Verdon.

Robert and Kristen have won Oscars for their work on Frozen and Coco, and most recently, won an Emmy for penning the “Agatha All Along” from WandaVision!

Steven not only wrote the book for Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway, but he also penned the screenplay for the movie version. Recently, he wrote the script for Netflix’s tick…tick…BOOM!
