“Thank you for all the support these past several months in anticipation of the WICKED movie. We have so many exciting things to share but for now I’m giving you one… or two, rather,” he started off in a note.

Jon then went on to explain that it would be impossible to fit the entire story into one film without messing with some things, so they decided to make it two movies to give it a proper adaptation.

He also revealed that the first film will be out in December 2024, and the second will be out the following year.

Jon has previously promised to do the adaptation justice, and this further shows he’s committed to not disappoint those who have been waiting years to see Wicked on the big screen.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are the only confirmed cast at this time, taking on the iconic roles of Elphaba and Glinda, respectively.

Filming is slated to begin soon!
