Zendaya was spotted on Met Gala Monday, but it sadly wasn’t at the actual gala.

The 25-year-old actress was seen sporting short hair while arriving on the set of her upcoming movie Challengers on Monday (May 2) in Boston, Mass.

In a recent interview, Zendaya explained why she wouldn’t be at the Met Gala.

“I hate to disappoint my fans here, but I will be working,” Zendaya told Extra. “Your girl’s got to work and make some movies, so I wish everyone the best. I will be playing tennis, but I will be back eventually… I’ll keep delivering in other ways.”

Zendaya is referring to Challengers, in which she will be playing a tennis player turned coach who “has taken her husband, Art (Mike Faist), and transformed him from a mediocre player into a world-famous grand slam champion. To jolt him out of his recent losing streak, she makes him play a ‘Challenger’ event — close to the lowest level of tournament on the pro tour — where he finds himself standing across the net from the once-promising, now burnt-out Patrick: his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend (Josh O’Connor).”
