'Crazy Rich Asians' Spinoff in the Works With Harry Shum Jr & Gemma Chan's Characters!

Harry Shum Jr and Gemma Chan could be getting their own Crazy Rich Asians spinoff!

It has just been revealed on Friday (May 6) that the spinoff is in early development, according to Deadline.

If you remember, Harry‘s Charlie Wu didn’t actually show up until the end of Crazy Rich Asians.

The spinoff would center on Gemma‘s character Astrid Young Teo’s romance with Charlie.

Harry was also said to have a more prominent in the Crazy Rich Asians sequel, which is also still in development.

The spinoff and the sequel will both be connected to Kevin Kwan‘s second book in the series, “China Rich Girlfriend,” which not only covers Astrid and Charlie’s romance, but follows Rachel (Constance Wu) and Nick (Henry Golding) on a trip to Shanghai to find the former’s birth father.

The potential spinoff is being written by Emmy-nominated Barry writer and producer Jason Kim.

Since both stories are in the second book, it looks like the Crazy Rich Asians sequel could focus more solely on Rachel and Nick.

Harry was just most recently seen in the runaway hit movie Everything Everywhere All at Once, while Gemma recently starred in Marvel’s Eternals.
