Iman Vellani Was a Fan of 'Ms Marvel' Before Being Cast in Disney+ Series

Iman Vellani was definitely aware of her MCU character Ms Marvel well before being cast to play her!

The teen will be portraying the title character in the upcoming Disney+ series and recently opened up about being a fan of the comics and even the audition process.

See what she shared inside…

“It just blew my mind that a superhero comic was showcasing Eid [the Muslim festival marking the end of Ramadan],” she told THR.

“She was my total comfort character,” Iman added. “She felt so much like me, and a lot of that comes from not just her background and ethnicity but because she’s such a fan of the Marvel universe, too.”

During the audition process, she said she nerded out in front of the Marvel co-president and the casting director.

“I knew exactly which comic books they pulled the scenes from [for the audition sides],” Iman dished. “I was fully nerding out in front of [co-president] Louis D’Esposito and [casting head] Sarah Finn. I wanted to take full advantage of being there because I didn’t know if it was going to happen again.”

Iman has even had the support of fellow Marvel stars, like Captain Marvel‘s Brie Larson and even Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Chris Pratt!

Brie [Larson]’s held my hand throughout this process, Teyonah [Parris] has been so wonderful,” she shared. “[Chris] made himself so available for any help I would need in the future, so I shot him an email asking about press and stuff and he sent me this juggernaut of an email with so much advice and what’s gotten him through this.”

Be sure to check out the Ms Marvel trailer and tune in to the Disney+ premiere THIS Wednesday (June 8)!
