BTS Announce Hiatus to Focus On Solo Projects After Releasing New Album 'Proof'

The guys of BTS will be taking an extended break as a group.

The K-pop group – RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook - made the announcement during Festa, while talking about their journey as a band and wanting to pursue solo endeavors.

RM said they “still need to develop and mature as individual people and artists,” according to Variety.

“I think we should spend some time apart to learn how to be one again,” J-Hope added. “I hope you don’t see this as a negative thing, and see it as a healthy plan. I think BTS will become stronger that way.”

“We can’t help but think of our fans no matter what, we want to be the kind of artists that are remembered by our fans. I think now we’re starting to think about what kind of artists we each want to be remembered [as],” Jimin shared.

Suga was sure to clarify, “It’s not like we’re disbanding!”

There are currently upcoming solo releases planned for J-Hope, Suga and Jungkook. J-Hope will also be headlining the upcoming Lollapalooza on it’s final night, Sunday, July 31st.
