Simone Biles Is 'Honored' to Receive Presidential Medal of Freedom, Becomes the Youngest Recipient

Simone Biles was just honored with a Medal of Freedom on Thursday (July 7) at the White House in Washington DC.

The 25-year-old gymnast was one of 17 recipients from President Joe Biden, along with Denzel Washington, Megan Rapinoe and a posthumous one for the late Steve Jobs.

“I’m so honored & thankful to be recognized as a recipient by President Biden for this prestigious award. I still have no words. I’m shocked!” she shared on Instagram.

The Medal of Freedom is awarded to recipients who “demonstrate the power of possibilities and embody the soul of the nation – hard work, perseverance, and faith. They have overcome significant obstacles to achieve impressive accomplishments in the arts and sciences, dedicated their lives to advocating for the most vulnerable among us, and acted with bravery to drive change in their communities – and across the world – while blazing trails for generations to come.”

In addition, Simone has actually become the youngest recipient of the honor!

Congratulations to Simone and all of the other recipients!!
