Timothee Chalamet Says 'It's Hard to Be Alive Now' With Social Media Negativity

Timothee Chalamet steps out for the photo call for his upcoming new movie Bones and All held during the 2022 Venice Film Festival on Friday (September 2) in Venice, Italy.

The 26-year-old Wonka star joined his co-stars Taylor Russell, Chloe Sevigny and Mark Rylance, as well as director Luca Guadagnino, at the event ahead of their premiere later in the day.

While talking about the film at a press conference, Timothee took a shot at social media and the constant negativity.

“To be young now, and to be young whenever—I can only speak for my generation—is to be intensely judged,” he said, via Variety. “I can’t imagine what it is to grow up with the onslaught of social media, and it was a relief to play characters who are wrestling with an internal dilemma absent the ability to go on Reddit, or Twitter, Instagram or TikTok and figure out where they fit in.”

“I’m not casting judgement,” Timothee added. “You can find your tribe there.”

“I think it’s hard to be alive now. I think societal collapse is in the air. That’s why hopefully this movie will matter.”
