Omri Katz portrayed Max Dennison in the original movie, but did you know Leonardo DiCaprio was originally offered the role and turned it down?!

Leo said in a Variety interview back in 2014 that he was offered “more money than I ever dreamed of,” but ultimately wanted to hold out for another role, in the movie What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, which he didn’t even audition for yet at the time. He did get that role and put on an amazing performance.

“I don’t know where the hell I got the nerve,” Leonardo said. “You live in an environment where you’re influenced by people telling you to make a lot of money and strike while the iron’s hot. But if there’s one thing I’m very proud of, it’s being a young man who was sticking to my guns.”
