Jard Padalecki Says Filming 'Walker' Season 3 Premiere Was 'Grueling'

Jared Padalecki is opening up about filming the beginning of Walker season three.

The star of the show plays Cordell, of course, who gets kidnapped in the last minutes of season two.

Now, the season three premiere picks right up where we left off, it’s graduation day and the Walker family is turning a corner into a seemingly hopeful future that is until Cordell (Padalecki) goes missing, and his mysterious captors are trying to break him down physically and mentally.

Meanwhile, Captain James (Coby Bell), Cassie (Ashley Reyes) and the rest of the Rangers have all hands on deck to bring Cordell home safely but Stella (Violet Brinson) has ideas of her own on how she can help.

In a new interview, Jared opened up about filming the first episode and how the physical torment his character is put through was real pain.

“When I read the script, I was like, ‘Awesome! I love it! This is going to be so fun!’ And then it was a couple of long days, because the best way to shoot it, just scheduling-wise, is kind of once you’re there, getting it all done,” he told TV Line. “So it was a couple of grueling days, and I’m just wearing my running gear, shorts and a really thin shirt. So for some of the more physical pain parts, I can’t really wear kneepads or elbow pads or anything because they would’ve shown up.”

“So I felt like it was good acting by default. I really did feel beat up,” he added. “I didn’t have to act like I felt beat up, because I felt like I was actually beat up. So hopefully some of that translated on camera.”

Tune in TONIGHT (October 6) at 8pm ET/PT on The CW. Watch the season trailer here!
