Kit Connor Says Deleting Twitter Was 'Best Decision of My Life'

Kit Connor is opening up about his relationship with social media.

The 18-year-old Heartstopper star stopped using Twitter in September following immense assumptions and pressure about his sexuality. He remains a presence on Instagram though.

He then returned for a brief tweet at the end of October to come out as bisexual after feeling forced to declare his sexuality.

In a new interview, Kit opened up about social media and stepping away.

“Social media is not a window into my soul at all… so [it] was the best decision of my life,” he told British GQ. “In many ways it’s great, but as someone who’s in the public eye, if you look for people saying bad stuff about you, you’ll find it.”

He added that almost looked for the negativity.

“You want to know what people are saying. Everyone wants to be liked, which is slightly heartbreaking when you’re in the position of someone like me or Joe [Locke],” Kit said.

The actor, who will also star in the upcoming A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow, shared that he leans on people like his Heartstopper co-star Joe for support.

“Joe’s really been such a lifesaver in so many ways for me; as a support system and a friend to go through everything with,” he said.

“I’ve tried to do the same for him,” Joe agreed. “I don’t think Kit really understands what an incredible person he is.”
