Jenna Ortega Says Disney Prom Was 'Really Awkward'

Jenna Ortega opens up about her time on Disney Channel and going to “Disney Prom“!

The 20-year-old actress, who of course starred in Stuck in the Middle on the network, was on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote her new series Wednesday.

While making her first late night talk show appearance, she talked about growing up on set and transitioning to home-school after landing on the Disney show.

When Jimmy asked if she went to prom, she told him that Disney held their own prom for their actors.

“Disney has like a separate prom for their kids,” she told Jimmy. “I think they’re trying to make us feel normal, but it’s just really awkward because you don’t know these kids, and their parents are there, and people are socializing and promoting themselves.”

She adds, “It’s a really sweet thing on Disney’s part, but it is a bit odd.”

Speaking of awkward, Jenna also opened up about a moment with Christina Ricci on the set of Wednesday.

“I feel like I personally made it a little weird,” she said. “I feel she was really sweet about it. Me, it was one of the most awkward experiences I’ve ever had.”

“You know, I’m dressed up the way she was 30 years ago, and she’s getting to watch me, but I know her as Wednesday in my head,” Jenna continued. “And I think socially, I can be kind of hard to communicate with at times, and somethings I would say something as a joke. I think I have a very dark sense of humor, and she would go, ‘Ooh, that’s dark.’ So then I just wouldn’t want to talk again, you know… But she’s a sweetheart!”
