Disney Is NOT Merging With Apple, Despite Recent Speculation

No, Disney and Apple are not merging companies…

After it was announced that Bob Iger has returned to The Walt Disney Company as CEO last week, there were many rumors and lots of speculation going around about how he could or would be trying to sell the company to Apple.

In the past, Iger has talked about the potential merger of the two companies, and with his recent shocking return, many speculated and assumed that with some of Disney’s recent financial woes, that he would sell. Many also believed that it would be his way of cementing his legacy.

However, on Monday morning (November 28), during a company town hall meeting, the returning executive shot down those rumors.

On the rumors and speculation, Iger dismissed them, and said it was just that, rumors and speculation.

As for if Disney would acquire any other new companies, he also said that they won’t be doing that.

“We have a great set of assets here,” he said, via THR. “Nothing is forever, but I am very, very comfortable with each of the assets that we have.”

Disney’s most famous acquisitions under Iger‘s leadership include the most recent acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019, as well as LucasFilm in 2012, Marvel in 2009 and Pixar in 2006.
