Renee Rapp to Reprise Regina George for 'Mean Girls' Musical Movie With Auli'i Cravalho & More

Renee Rapp will be jumping back into character as Regina George for an upcoming Mean Girls movie musical!

The Sex Lives of College Girls star took over the mean girl role from Taylor Louderman in the Broadway production in 2019.

In the upcoming movie version of the Broadway musical from Tina Fey, who wrote the original movie. will also star Auli’i Cravalho, Angourie Rice and Tony nominee Jaquel Spivey from A Strange Loop.

Angourie will star as Cady Heron, Auli’i will play Janis and Jaquel will play Damien, according to THR.

Here’s a synopsis: Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady devises a plan to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a Queen Bee without getting stung.

The Mean Girls movie musical is set to debut on Paramount+.

Tiny Fey is writing the script once again, and she’ll also produce with Lorne Michaels. Jeff Richmond writes the music with lyrics by Nell Benjamin. Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr will direct.
