'Glee' Theories & Questions Kevin McHale & Jenna Ushkowitz Debunked or Answered On Their Podcast
Dave Karofsky transitioned from hockey player to football star
Kevin revealed a possible plot hole that centered on Max Adler‘s character Dave Karofsky, who first appeared on the show as a hockey player but later was exclusively on the football team.
Max revealed how that happened via voice message.
“When I originally auditioned, I auditioned for Karofsky and Azimio, played by the wonderful James Earl. But it was like both characters had a couple lines and both were jocks who were going to bully the glee club members. One was a hockey player – Karofsky. One was a football player – Azimio. I got Karofsky, and I was just cast as this one episode, couple line guy who would Slushee Finn and say some stuff to Quinn. And he was a hockey player,” he explained.
“I think as they decided to bring me back and expand my character they realized we don’t have an ice rink or a hockey team and all the equipment. So it would just be easier to make me a football player and throw a football jersey on me and call it a day,” he said.
Max hypothesized that his character decided to give up hockey and simply play football.
Plot hole, confirmed.
