Tom Holland's Fred Astaire Biopic Finds Director in Wonka's Paul King

We have a new update on Tom Holland‘s upcoming Fred Astaire movie!

The 26-year-old actor has been tapped to star as the iconic dancer/actor in a biopic, which was revealed in December 2021.

Now, the film has found it’s director – Paul King!

THR reports that the writer/director has signed on for the upcoming project, which is still in development and does not yet have a start date.

If you didn’t know, Paul co-wrote and directed the first two Paddington movies, and co-wrote the upcoming third. He also more recently co-wrote and is directing Timothee Chalamet‘s upcoming Wonka movie musical.

Tom will reunite with Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal on the Fred Astaire movie, which is seeing a rewrite by Lee Hall, who also penned the Billy Elliot movie and stage musical, which Tom also starred in on the West End when he was a kid.

Not much is known about the Fred Astaire biopic, but it is said to center on Fred‘s relationship with his sister Adele.
