Spencer Sutherland Reveals He Auditioned for 'Wicked' Movies - Here's How Far He Got

Spencer Sutherland was one of the celebs in the running for a big role in the upcoming Wicked movie adaptation.

The 30-year-old singer recently revealed that he auditioned for the male leading role of Fiyero, and he made it pretty far along in the process.

See what he revealed inside…

While appearing on The Zach Sang Show, they were talking what biopics Spencer could star in, and Zach mentioned manifesting Ariana Grande in the Wicked movie, though as Elphaba not Glinda, then Spencer said he auditioned.

“I got a callback for Wicked… I thought it was a great audition,” he said. “I thought.. when I got a double callback, it was like, ‘Oh, sh-t, this is real. How many people do they have left?’ Probably 20, but still not bad. I don’t know the number.”

He also added that he didn’t think he was going to book it.

Of course, the role ended up going to Jonathan Bailey, most well known for his part on Bridgerton.

On Broadway, notable names who have played Fiyero include Aaron Tveit, Ryan McCartan, Taye Diggs, New Kids on the Block‘s Joey McIntyre, Justin Guarini, Ashley Parker Angel and Derek Klena. Norbert Leo Butz originated the role in the early 2000s.

If you missed it, it was just revealed that the first Wicked movie will debut in theaters a little sooner than originally announced.
