Mickey's Toontown Re-Opens at Disneyland This Weekend - Here's What is New!

The time has finally come – Mickey’s Toontown will be back and fully open to the public starting THIS Sunday (March 19)!

The themed land at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., has been undergoing quite the transformation, and is reopening during the Disney100 anniversary celebration.

Among what’s new is, of course, the new attraction Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which already opened back in January.

Also new is a interactive and grassy spaces, food and beverage locations, and classic characters who you will be able to spot and take photos with!

“Mickey’s Toontown first opened 30 years ago, so there are generations of Disneyland Resort guests who have grown up with and made magical memories here. Walt Disney Imagineering set out to keep the essence of what makes Mickey’s Toontown special for so many, while evolving it for the coming generations of families who can’t wait to make new memories here,” Jeff Shaver-Moskowitz, Portfolio Executive Producer at Walt Disney Imagineering, shared in a statement.

Interactive Play Areas

CenTOONial Park – This is the first area guests will see when entering Toontown, with the open area featuring a fountain with “with water tables designed for play, and a dreaming tree with sculpted roots for children to crawl around and explore.”

Goofy’s How-To-Play Yard – The new area includes a whimsical sound garden that makes wacky noises, along with a new clubhouse. Heading inside Goofy’s House, “guests can help operate an interactive candy-making contraption only Goofy could imagine.”

Donald’s Duck Pond – “This area helps kids get the wiggles out and make a splash. In the pond, Donald’s Boat is perched among larger-than-life spinning water lilies, balance beams and rocking toys. Explorers can look into the boat’s portholes to witness bubbles of fun inside featuring familiar ducklings Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby.”

Mickey’s House and Minnie’s House – Guests can walk through and discover playful gags and special surprises through every room of the cartoon homes, and when they’re home, fans may also get photos with Mickey and Minnie, as well as autographs.

Attractions & Entertainment

Character sightings – Guests will be able to often find some of their favorite Mickey cartoon characters wandering about, including Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto and Clarabelle, and for the first time ever, Pete!

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – This is the first ride at Disneyland starring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, and is a fun ride full of surprising twists and turns as you travel through the hilarious hijinks of a ‘Mickey Mouse’ cartoon short.”

Chip ‘n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster – “Go nuts on a one-of-a-kind, fun-sized coaster created by the resident tinkerer of Mickey’s Toontown, Gadget Hackwrench.”

Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin – “Board a zany taxicab and follow the adventures of Roger Rabbit.”

Disneyland Railroad – Guests can hop on the steam-powered Disneyland Railroad at the Toontown station for a scenic ride around the whole park.

Dining & Shopping

EngineEar Souvenirs – The shop will house a wide selection of merch featuring Mickey Mouse and his pals. This location also offers mobile checkout, enabling guests to scan and pay for select items right from their phones through the Disneyland app.

Café Daisy – Daisy Duck’s eatery will serve diner classics, including a plant-based option. You’ll also be able to take advantage of mobile ordering food and beverages with the Disneyland app.

Good Boy! Grocers – This roadside stand offers a variety of grab-and-go drinks, snacks and novelties. While supplies last, the Perfect Picnic Basket novelty will be available to purchase, which includes up to three snack-sized items. You can also add the Perfect Picnic Blanket to go with your basket.
