'grown-ish' to End After Upcoming 6th Season on Freeform

Freeform‘s hit dramedy grown-ish will be coming to an end.

The black-ish spinoff first debuted in 2018, following Yara Shahidi‘s Zoey Johnson going off to college at Cal U, and it will now end after six seasons, Variety reveals.

The series just aired it’s season five finale mid-March, and was renewed for a sixth season earlier this year.

“We’ve spent nearly a decade telling our stories through the -ish series and to say it has been an amazing journey would be an understatement,” series creator and executive producer Kenya Barris shared in a statement. “To be able to watch Yara, Marcus and our entire grown-ish family grow up in front of (and in many ways alongside) us over these past several years has been both a joy and an honor. From the stories we’ve told to the talent we’ve fostered and, most importantly, the memories made, I could not be more proud of everything we’ve accomplished and the -ish family I’ve been a part of.”

This will mark the end of the -ish franchise, following the end of black-ish in 2022 and mixed-ish in 2021.

grown-ish currently stars Yara Shahidi, Marcus Scribner, Trevor Jackson, Diggy Simmons and Daniella Perkins, as well as Justine Skye, Amelie Zilber, Ceyair Wright and Tara Raani.

Previous stars include Francia Raisa, Chloe Bailey, Halle Bailey, Emily Arlook, Jordan Buhat and Luka Sabbat.
