Lili Reinhart Says KJ Apa Made Her Cry While Filming 'Riverdale' Recently

Lili Reinhart is teasing the upcoming final season of Riverdale, which kicks off TONIGHT (March 29)!

The 26-year-old actress opened up in a new interview ahead of the season premiere, and shared that there are a lot of Barchie scenes, and that co-star KJ Apa actually made her cry while filming recently.

“I see all the Barchie fans talking on Twitter and Instagram, and it’s like, you guys are going to be well fed,” Lili shared with EW. “There’s a lot of Barchie, and it’s been so fun to film with KJ this last season. We just shot a scene yesterday and he made me cry because of how good he was in it. The Barchie of it all is definitely full circle. We shot a scene in front of Betty’s house the other day. There’s a lot of sweet, nostalgic moments throughout the last season.”

She also talked about going back to playing a teen on the show, after playing Betty as an adult since season five.

“It’s like a joke that I’m playing a teenager, I have to laugh,” Lili said. “Not in a bad way, but none of us look like we’re 17. But it’s been fun to lean into the innocence. You realize even with your body and mannerisms, you’re playing into the awkwardness more being a teen.”

Riverdale‘s seventh and final season premieres TONIGHT (March 29) at 9pm ET/PT on The CW.

In the episode, “Chapter One Hundred Eighteen: Don’t Worry Darling,” after coming together to stop Bailey’s comet, the gang find themselves transported back to a simpler time – Riverdale 1955. While Archie (Apa) attempts to impress the new girl Veronica (Camila Mendes), a Hollywood starlet, who has just arrived at Riverdale High, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) sees her as a threat and formulates a plan to take her down.

Meanwhile, Toni (Vanessa Morgan), Tabitha (Erinn Westbrook) and Betty (Reinhart) take a stand against Principal Featherhead after he stonewalls their attempts to write about the murder of Emmet Till. Finally, Jughead (Cole Sprouse) attempts to convince the gang that they’re from the future.
