Does Your HBO Max Account Transfer to Max On Re-Launch? Details Revealed!

HBO Max is about to go away and Max is taking it’s place!

The streaming service is combining with Discovery+ and will be relaunching with an updated platform on Tuesday (May 23), and a plethora of brand new titles.

If you are already an HBO Max subscriber, you may be wondering what this means for your account, and if you will have to re-sign up for a new account.

When Max launches on Tuesday (May 23), those currently subscribed to HBO Max will NOT need to create a new account, your current sign-in info and account will transfer over. If this isn’t the case, you may have to sign in using your provider username and password.

There are two things that may happen with the app, depending on your device – either it will automatically update from HBO Max to Max, OR, when you open the app, it may prompt you to download the new Max app.

All of your account profiles, watch history and “My List” will all be saved over to Max, so you won’t lose your place on your shows or lose the titles saved to your list.

Your subscription will still go through your TV, internet, digital, or wireless provider, so that won’t change either.
