While both characters are just 15 years old in the first movie, Mason is also 15 in real life, while Nico is 18 years old.

The live action adaptation was first announced earlier this year, with Dean DeBlois making his live action directorial debut. If you didn’t know, Dean wrote and directed the animated film trilogy as well!

Based on the books by Cressida Cowell, the first film followed Hiccup, a young Viking who defies tradition and befriends one of his deadliest foes – a ferocious dragon he calls Toothless. Together, the unlikely heroes fight against the odds to save both their worlds in this wonderful, feel-good hit.

Mason will be starring in David Henrie‘s upcoming movie Boys of Summer, while Nico recently appeared in the hit TV series The Last of Us.
