Maddie Ziegler to Play Ballerina Fighting for Survival with Avantika in 'Ballerina Overdrive'

Maddie Ziegler and Avantika have landed roles in an exciting new movie!

The young actresses, best known for their work on Dance Moms and the Mean Girls movie musical, respectively, have joined the cast of Ballerina Overdrive.

Deadline reports that the movie “follows a troupe of ballerinas who find themselves fighting for survival as they attempt to escape from a remote inn after their bus breaks down on the way to a dance competition.”

Ballerina Overdrive was originally announced in early 2023 with different actors attached. Three are continuing with the project and three have exited.

Lana Condor, Iris Apatow, and Millicent Simmonds will all remain with the project.

Yara Shahidi, Isabela Merced, and Game of Thrones actress Lena Headey are no longer attached.

The movie is currently in production in Budapest.
