Booboo Stewart has a new leading role!

The 27-year-old Descendants actor will star as Caleb Cheeshahteaumuck in the film adaptation of Geraldine Brooks‘ novel “Caleb’s Crossing,” THR reveals.

Caleb is “the first Native American graduate of Harvard University and the inspiration for Brooks‘ novel. A member of the Wampanoag tribe near Martha’s Vineyard, Caleb graduated from Harvard with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1665, studying Latin and Greek among the colonial elite.”

Booboo will also serve as a producer on the movie along with Native American filmmaker Chris Eyre.

“Telling this story of Native American history and the major accomplishments of Native Peoples is paramount to ‘our story’ as Americans. Booboo is the perfect lead that will take us to new frontiers together,” Chris said in a statement.

This is one of a few exciting projects Booboo has in the pipeline. He also has a movie, The Never List, with his sister Fivel, coming out this year. It premiered in select theaters last December.

Booboo will also co-star in the upcoming series Paradise City, along with his late Descendants co-star Cameron Boyce. Check out the latest trailer and tune in when it premieres in March on Prime Video.

Fivel Stewart Stars In 'The Never List' Trailer - Watch Now! (Exclusive)

Fivel Stewart Stars In 'The Never List' Trailer - Watch Now! (Exclusive)

Fivel Stewart is starring in the brand new movie The Never List and we have the exclusive trailer premiere!

The 24-year-old Atypical actress stars as Eva Jeffries in the upcoming film, which is out on December 11th.

Here’s a synopsis: 16-year old Eva (Stewart) is as overachieving as they come. Running for student class president while juggling a heavy academic schedule and planning the upcoming school dance, Eva dreams of becoming a comic book artist – something she knows her helicopter mom would never support.

Since elementary school, Eva and her BFF Liz (Brenna D’Amico) have cosplayed their alter-egos, “Vicky” and “Veronica,” as a way to release the pressure they feel. Together, they imagine Vicky and Veronica doing highly questionable, even illegal, acts that the real Eva and Liz would never do… acts they document in “The Never List.”

When Liz dies in a tragic accident, Eva is filled with anger and regret thinking about all the things Liz never did out of fear of risking her future… a future she ultimately would never have. Eva decides the best way to honor her best friend’s memory is to complete The Never List.

At first this journey leads her to romance and adventure, but as the list progresses, her actions begin threatening the very foundations of her carefully planned teenage life and even her own future.

The Never List also stars Keiko Agena, Jonathan Bennett, Andrew Kai, Drew Droege and MariNaomi, as well as Fivel‘s brother Booboo Stewart, Anna Grace Barlow, Ryan Cargill, Tori Keeth, and Matt Corboy.

Matthew Morrison & Booboo Stewart To Star In 'Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Musical' Live On NBC!

Matthew Morrison & Booboo Stewart To Star In 'Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Musical' Live On NBC!

Matthew Morrison is starring as The Grinch in the next NBC Live televised event, Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Musical!

The former Glee star will be joined by Denis O’Hare as his dog Max, and Booboo Stewart, who will play the younger version of Max, Deadline reports.

“In what has been an extremely challenging year for us all, it is an honor to bring some holiday cheer into viewers’ homes this December,” Matthew said. “My wish is to bring some Who-ville magic to this holiday season and, while the pandemic presents some challenges in bringing a stage production to life, we are excited to present a unique version of this seasonal favorite in a new creative and imaginative way.”

The musical will be staged at the Troubadour Theatre in London, and will air on December 9th on NBC!

Booboo recently opened up about booking a lot of musical roles (Descendants, Paradise City, Julie and the Phantoms) and how he doesn’t intentionally go out looking for them, nor does he think he’s good enough for the roles.

“I have been against every single time I get an audition to sing, I’m always like, ‘No,’” he told TooFab. “It’s actually really funny I keep doing these parts. It’s never a key factor, it’s just the material itself and the people involved with it.”

“Literally, whenever something comes up where I have to be singing, in my head I go, ‘No, I’m not good enough. I don’t think I’ll be able to do it,’” Booboo added. “Then, somehow…”
